I’m currently hard at work, inking Owly: A Time To Be Brave, and things are progressing quite nicely! :) I’ll be sure to post lots of new “Owly As…” images and a complete review of my absolutely wonderful Free Comic Book Day experience at Strange Adventures soon!
But! This upcoming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (June 15th, 16th, and 17th), I’ll be at the Amazing Heroes Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina! Stop on by Indie Island and say hi to the Top Shelf crew, including Rob and Chris, as well as my good friends, J.Chris, Duane and Justin, Rob, the AdHouse crew, Ben, Chris, Jim, and many many MANY more!!! We’ll have Free Owly Comics to give away as well as shirts, books, and toys!
Then, without skipping a beat we’re on our way to New York City for the MoCCA Art Festival on June 23rd and 24th! Owly and I will be in the Big Apple hanging out with all of our friends! Hey Andy, Glad to hear Owly 4 is progressing nicely and to hear from you on your site – it’s been too long!!! I took a picture of a great blue heron eating a fish at the pond near my kids’ school today. I felt like Owly with Faith in the stroller being Wormy as we tried to get close enough to snap his picture. I spooked him a few times.
It’s an interesting pond. Apparently, someone dumped their fish tank water in the pond and it exploded with Algae. It looks a sickly milky green. However, the pond is teeming with life. Obviously, the herons like it for the fish, who can’t see them thru the algae (I’ve seen night heron as well). I saw a turtle today too, probably trying to snatch one of the dozens of dragon flys. Anyway it’s really cool. I guess your trying to get “A time to be brave” out for SDCC?
Oh, Faith can say Owly and gets excited every time she sees a picture or plays with Helen’s plush. I showed her the “Mann Baby #5” sketch you made last year and she was overcome with giggles!

I had been looking around whenever I went to the comic book store for Owly #4 thinking “I’m sure I read on the Top Shelf website that it was coming out now”. Now I feel silly for not checking back there to see that it wouldn’t be shipping until fall! lol Glad to have that mystery solved though. I can’t wait to read it. :)

I picked up my first Owly comic (“Just A Little Blue”) at the MoCCA art festival, actually. (Also, the green t-shirt.) I have to say, Owly is one of the sweetest books I’ve read in a long, long time. I’m looking forward to getting caught up with his adventures to date and seeing what you have in store for him in the future.
